Do you feel like you’re wasting your life away due to work responsibilities?
Of course we have to work, but it should NEVER feel like our job is taking over our lives.
We should be working to live not living to work, which seems to be the norm in this day and age, and that is indeed a problem.
I’m all for doing what I love to be happy, and if that means axing my day job to be with my family more, to have more time to ourselves, and to ultimately do whatever I want when I want, then I absolutely know working for a boss isn’t for me.
And it doesn’t have to be for you either.
We live in a world with countless opportunities all under our nose. We just have to find it.
And that’s the cold-hard truth that you will be discovering today.
But first and foremost, lets talk about the signs that your job is wasting your life.
1. You hate being away from your family
You have kids and a partner, and they are the world to you, so you want to spend as much time with them while they are here.
Your kids won’t be around forever. Before you know it they will be 18 and moving out, and that’s when reality hits.
You did not spend enough time with them while they were living at home!
So if you are constantly working, at work AND at home, and never spending time with them, you are not doing yourself or them a favor.
Kids need their parents/caregivers, but being at a job all the time can get in the way of that.
2. You want more out of life
Some people just want more out of life.
They want to live “the good life”, to wake up 10-stories high overlooking a beach, to have a big house with a big family and be financially free, to have money to live life however they like to.
They don’t want to be tied down to a 9-5 job, 5 days a weeks, year after year.
Well if that sounds like you, let me tell you that it is 100% possible.
Don’t settle for what everyone else settles for!
Shoot for the moon, even if you miss you’ll be among the stars! So what the heck do you have to lose? You lose nothing but gain everything by trying.
3. Time feels like it’s on fast-forward mode
If you feel that time is passing you by too quickly; like every year is flying like a rocket, then you need to do something real quick.
Life’s too short to be working at a job you hate or to be working for a boss that doesn’t appreciate your skills and effort you put into your job.
Bills need to be paid and food needs to be on the table, but your happiness and well-being is just as important.
There are ways out and I can help you get there. Heck, I done it!
4. You live for the weekend
You can’t stop thinking about Friday even when it’s Monday
Monday is NOT the time to think about Friday. It is the day to get back into the flow of things after the weekend bender you just had.
So if you can’t stop thinking about the weekend no matter what day it is, there’s a good chance you don’t like your job and you are wasting your life staying in it.
Yes, it’s okay to look forward for the weekend, but if you need a couple of days off just to feel like a normal person there is indeed a problem with the life your living.
5. You take time off at the very first chance you get
You get a little cough and you ring in sick, you use a sick leave as soon as you have accumulated one, and you sometimes even lie to get a day off.
You should only be taking time off work when you are really sick or when it could spread.
Basically, if you’re trying to get time off work at the very first chance you get it might have a deeper meaning than just “being lazy”.
6. You don’t feel inspired anymore
In the first few weeks of a new job, we are so excited. We jump out of bed ready to tackle everything that comes our way for the day.
And although that does slow down slightly after a few months, if you really love what you are doing you will still be able to do it even after years in the same job.
If your performance has lowered dramatically, you don’t care about being late and simply do not care about getting in trouble from the boss, you may have very well lost all your inspiration for your job.
7. You’re not happy with your current situation
If your job makes you unhappy everyday, makes you hate getting out of bed and especially makes you hate life in general, your health is at risk and you should be worried.
You are on the verge of getting depression or mental illness, and I wouldn’t even wish them on my own worst enemy!
Trust me, it is best to change the situation before it’s too late.
If you’re unhappy with you job and you have a choice – which you do – then you have a chance, so make a change!
8. You like to stay in your little bubble (comfort zone)
There’s a good reason why people love to stay in their comfort zone – it is safe.
When you leave the comfort zone you get in the danger zone, the zone where literally anything can happen.
The danger zone is where doors open, where opportunities come and go, where dreams become more reachable with every passing day – it is where dreams are created my friend!
Staying in your little bubble is the worst thing you could do if you want more out of life.
Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results, which is the mistake a lot of people make.
You need to get out of that trap. You NEED to get into the danger zone so you can live the life others can only dream of having.
9. You follow bad advice
Parents are the worst.
If you’re an artist and you absolutely love doing it, but your parents want you to be a dentist because you make more money (even if you hate it), you will waste your life away.
If you want to be a builder but it will take too long to get qualified, so you work at McDonald’s for faster money instead, you are wasting time, LIMITED…valuable time.
Stop following bad advice and do what you truly love, even if it’s sacrificing a bit of pleasure now for maximum pleasure down the line.
10. You don’t enjoy the actual work
You might be able to tolerate work now, however, when many years have passed and you haven’t changed your current situation you might just wake up one day and wonder what the hell happened to your life.
You might be in the same career for 20+ years doing something you hate. Do you know how much regret you will have?
It’s not easy changing careers later in life either.
If you don’t enjoy the work you do, you are wasting your life making other people rich while you waste your life doing something you hate every day.
If that’s not a good enough reason to make a change, I don’t know what is.
Making a Change
You have realized that exchanging literally 40 hours of your time each week for money isn’t what you really want in life, and I don’t blame you.
I noticed that a long time ago. It was the reason I decided to do something about it.
I now work from home (full-time), have no boss, live life on my own terms and take a day off whenever I please.
I’m not saying it to brag, I just know what you are going through and I want to help.
Life is not worth using your own time to make other people rich. Sadly it is the norm in this day and age, but luckily there’s something we can do about it.
Since you don’t want to work for somebody else (you want the freedom to live life on your own terms), you need to either start your own brick and mortar business or an online business.
I prefer an online business since it doesn’t cost as much, becomes successful faster and is much easier to achieve success.
I have been using Wealthy Affiliate for over a year now and can’t recommend it enough.
If you’re serious about leaving your job to do the things you want (I’m sure you do since you made it this far), then you need to at least give the free trial a go.
Well thanks for reading.
If you ever need help I’ll happily steer you in the right direction 😀
