The #1 Way to Start An Online Business (Hint: It’s Blogging)

Starting an online business can be very overwhelming, especially if you’re new to the internet marketing world.

What works?

What doesn’t work?

Should you go with YouTube, create a blog, be a social media influencer? There are thousands of online business opportunities it’s so hard to choose.

However, over the years of doing internet marketing I have nailed it down to just one.

It is no secret, you’ve probably already heard it a million times before but I’m going to explain exactly why this is the #1 best way to start an online business.

Lets get right into it!

Hold Your Breath….It’s BLOGGING!?!

I know, I’m sorry I don’t have the next get-rich-quick scheme for you.

But hear me out:

You read it on every article there is on the internet about making money online, but they don’t go into detail.

They don’t tell you where to start, where to get training, what to write. You’re just told to start a blog.

But starting a blog isn’t enough. You need the right training and support.

Before we get into all of that I want to explain why blogging is hands down the best online business venture.

What Makes Blogging The #1 Online Business?

1. It’s a set and forget approach (passive income)

I love blogging because when you have established a website you can forget about it for a period of time.

This allows you to have as much time off as you want and even go on vacations, as long as this is your full-time job.

Don’t mix this up with setting and forgetting, because that will only get you limited results.

Blogging is a real online business and if you treat it as such, it will reward you greatly.

2. Anyone can do it

Literally newbies all the way up to experts can start blogging and profiting.

The biggest myth in blogging is that you need to be a good writer, but this couldn’t be further from the truth.

You write to your friends on social media, you update your status, you text your friends on Snapchat, you are a writer and don’t even know it.

Google loves when you write for the people, and the easiest way to do that is to write like you’re talking to a friend. It’s really that simple.

3. You get out what you put in

The best thing about blogging is that you get out what you put in.

Lets say you write 1 article a week. That is a poor attempt and although you will still see some success, don’t expect exponential growth.

However, put in more effort such as 3 articles a week and expect a much more consistent growth.

I just started posting almost everyday. I do this full-time so I take a day off when my girlfriend doesn’t work so I can spend the day with her.

Otherwise every other day I’m blogging away.

4. You choose your own hours

Put an hour in the morning and an hour at night, or even 5 hours consistently. It doesn’t matter, you get to choose your own hours.

Other online businesses such as live streaming require a consistent amount of work and it can be stressful.

Some gaming channels have to entertain their viewers for over 8 hours a day.

Well I like blogging because you aren’t put under as much pressure and you can take a day off without upsetting your audience.

5. Requires minimal work

Other online businesses like YouTube require planning, filming, getting the right lighting, etc, and can take days just to finish a video.

Then when you are done filming you have to edit the damn thing. This can take another couple hours on its own.

Well the thing with blogging is that once you write your article, add some links and pictures, just click publish and you are done!

That’s all there is to it. If you want to do some social media promoting, you can but it’s not mandatory and doesn’t take long.

6. High income potential

US Dollar Bills

Your income really is determined on how much work you put in and that’s why blogging is simply the best.

It’s a numbers game. Create more articles to get more traffic. More traffic = more money.

On the lower end you can expect $1000-$10,000 per month as a full-time blogger.

However, some bloggers earn $50,000-$100,000.

Of course the longer you keep at it and the more work you put in, the more you get out.

7. You own everything

You own your website, your own domain name, your content, legally everything is yours.

Nothing can be taken from you. If you do it right, your online business is essentially bulletproof unlike other online businesses.

YouTube can and will demonetize your videos if they want to, they can take down your rankings and can even ban you without warning.

Making money with Facebook ads is much harder than it used to be because they’re always changing their algorithms.

Even Facebook’s organic reach isn’t as good as it used to be.

MLM companies can go out of business and run away with everyone’s money.

But blogging?

Well, no one can take that from you 🙂

8. Less competition

Getting on the front page of Google is MUCH easier than getting on the front page of YouTube.

Believe it or not, beating your competition is easier for blogging than any other online business opportunity.

How so when it’s been around since the start of the internet?

Well probably because no one wants to do it.

Writing is a tedious task and can get incredibly boring.

Blogging Downsides

1. Can be boring

Writing can get boring. It’s very tedious work and a lot of the time it’s no fun.

Blogging everyday isn’t easy, but when you make it apart of your daily routine it gets easier.

2. Slow typers may struggle

Slow typers may struggle at the start of their blogging venture, however, the good part is that it gets easier with time and practice.

3. Some articles won’t rank

Unfortunately the majority of your articles won’t make money, or even rank for that matter.

It’s just the nature of this business model.

You could spend days writing a 5000 word article without it even ranking and getting traffic.

You also might write a 700 word article and reach the #1 search result and make a consistent monthly income.

And that’s why all you can do is put your best work forward and start on the next article.

Don’t worry about making it perfect because perfection doesn’t exist and you’ll always be worrying about whether it is good enough or not.

4. Takes time to build up

Articles you create now won’t rank until weeks later, sometimes months.

When you first start your blog you probably won’t make money for a couple months, and this is a big deal breaker for many who dive into this internet marketing venture.

The majority of people quit before their breakthrough due to the time it takes to see fruitful results.

The ones willing to push through the struggle are the ones finding success.

How Blogging Works

Now you know why blogging is the best way to make money online, I’m going to explain how the entire process works.

  1. Choose a niche
  2. Create your blog
  3. Create content
  4. Rank your content in Google
  5. Get traffic
  6. Make money

It is easier said than done, but essentially when you create your content, you wait for it to rank in the search engines.

When the traffic comes, the money comes.

Focusing on getting traffic is your #1 priority because getting traffic is the hardest part.

When you have traffic, making money is as easy as 1, 2, 3.

You can monetize your blog with display ads, affiliate marketing, merchandise, there are hundreds of ways to make money with a blog.

Get the traffic now, worry about making money later.

How to Start An Online Blogging Business

Okay, now you know that creating content and getting traffic is the first thing to focus on, it’s time to get the ball rolling.

You’re going to need the right training, a blogging platform, support and a leader who’s going to be with you every step of the way.

I guess that’ll have to be me 🙂

Step 1: Build Your Website – Your website is your business. This is where you create your content and add affiliate links so you can make money.

Step 2: Add Content – Your content is the driving force of your website. Without content there is no business. Content is in the form of words, videos, quizzes, etc.

Step 3: Get Traffic – If you have been creating content consistently for a good few months you should be getting traffic by now. And of course traffic = money.

Step 4: Make money – Yep, it really is that easy. Creating content and staying consistent is the biggest obstacle but if you can push through that and continue creating content, traffic and money will keep coming.

You Need The Right Training

However, even though you know how to make money blogging, your chances of finding success are slim.

I know because I tried to make money online for years by myself and failed every time.

You need the right training and lots of support from like-minded people.

Wealthy Affiliate has step-by-step video training, 24/7 live support, a helpful community, a keyword research tool, a blogging platform, weekly webinars, and much more.
