Is sales the secret to getting rich?
Should you learn sales to make that moola everyone’s talking about?
Well my friend, I will be talking about sales in this article and giving you some insight into the job everyone hates and stays away from.
Everybody hates salesman and no one wants to do the job, but why?
Because no one likes being sold to and no one likes being rejected, especially over and over again.
Only the brave go into sales because it truly is scary thinking about how many times you’re going to get told “NO”, how many times people will walk away from you, how many times the door will get closed in your face and how many times you’re going to fail.
But at the end of the struggles, is there much better rewards?
Absolutely and that’s exactly what I want to talk about today.
Is there a lot of money to be made in sales?
Man oh man, if you already don’t know the answer to this, you’re already far behind and need a lot of catching up to do.
But yes, sales makes you a huge amount of money, but only IF you do it right.
There are bad salesman, good salesman and there are amazing salesman.
You want to be amazing at it.
It does not matter if you’re just learning the ropes because at the end of the day if you have a passion for it, hard work and passion will always beat talent.
Becoming an amazing salesman takes years of grinding and being rejected but at the same time you will be making SOME sales so it’s not a huge let down.
When you learn the ropes and learn how to sell, the world is your oyster and money will virtually be flowing into your bank account.
The only salesman I bought from
I recently just signed up as member for something that was pitched to me by a girl who knocked at my door.
Keep in mind that this was the first and only time I have purchased something from a door salesman.
Really…I am 26 years old and it was literally the first.
It wasn’t the product or service, it was the skilled salesperson.
This girl who was in her early 20s was bubbly and told me said she was here to hand out flyers.
This made me not want to get rid of her because she’s only handing out flyers, right?
I didn’t see the harm in that.
She came off as she was only going to be a quick 2 minutes and be on her way.
But little did I know, she started talking more about it and she was so excited about this service that it showed through her personality and I just couldn’t say no.
I asked her how long it would take to sign up (because people have better things to do), and she said only 5 minutes then she’ll be on her way.
Obviously I thought; “oh yeah, definitely”.
However, she knew it would be at least 10-15 minutes but it was her way of letting me know that she knows I am busy and would rather be doing other things.
And it worked, even though I was a little upset that it took a little longer than expected, I was in awe of the fact that she hooked me in so easily.
It was all in the salesperson, her bubbly personality, her ability to make me think she wasn’t going to be long, her ability to remove any distractions and keep me focused on her, etc.
That is what makes a great salesperson in my honest opinion.
How difficult is it to learn or become great?
It is extremely hard to learn sales and it is not an easy job.
To become a sales professional, you will need to grind every day, start early and finish late.
Because at the start you are a newbie and you won’t get many sales.
Your sales goal will be at an all time low for the first couple weeks but overtime with lots and lots of practice, things will get better.
Rejection is inevitable and not an easy thing to handle when just starting out.
It can make or break you if you don’t brush it off asap before moving onto the next house/client.
The one thing that will get you through the hard times, from beginner to expert, from spending long hours everyday without quitting, is the passion for sales.
You have to possess a passion for it otherwise everyday’s going to be a struggle and you’ll end up quitting way too early.
The secret to becoming a great salesman is to push, push and push some more.
When in doubt, onto the next client you go because that’s how you learn from your mistakes and get better.
If you’re afraid of failing as a salesman
Clearly there is a lot of money to be made in sales.
Even the top billionaires started in sales.
If you’re afraid of failing, realize that failing is just a small experiment to get you closer to your dreams.
Failing is inevitable and even the greatest entrepreneurs on the planet “failed” over and over again.
You need to rid yourself of that mindset of failing or you’ll forever be in a constant state of ‘doing nothing’.
You’ll always have big dreams but you’ll never take the plunge because that thing will keep popping up in the back of your mind that you’ll just fail like you always do.
It’s going to happen my friend, but the ones that push through and keep going no matter what, THEY get to where they want in life and you also have to do adopt that same mindset to become successful.
What if you’re a shy person?
Of course being shy is going to hinder your speed of becoming successful, however, there are definitely some things you can do to make it work.
You should dive deep into the product or service you’re selling and do all the research you can possibly do.
This will allow you to answer any questions that come your way as fast and effortlessly as possible.
When you’re shy, you are afraid of saying the wrong thing and you speed your talking up because you are anxious and uneasy.
Talk slow so you don’t mumble your words and IT’LL GIVE YOU TIME TO THINK ABOUT WHAT YOU’RE ABOUT TO SAY NEXT.
Don’t speak fast just to get your point across because your nervousness will shine through and with that comes a customer who’s going to shut the door in your face.
Another way to overcome this fear of talking to people is to practice improv with your friends and family first.
Get them to answer the door like a real person doing real things and you’ll quickly become accustomed to what to expect and how to handle tough situations.
Such as when you get yelled at, when someone suddenly backs out before finishing a purchase or when you’re being asked 21 questions about a product.
Everyone’s going to have all the questions and that’s why you NEED to have all the answers up your sleeve.
Get your actor to ask lots of questions so you know what to do when the situation arises.
Is sales the secret to becoming rich?
If you talked to the top billionaires of our lifetime, almost all of them will say sales helped them get a head start.
But of course sales will only get you so far, because it is active income and not passive.
Being a good salesman will get you wealthy and you can make extraordinary amounts of money when you become an expert.
But the big question here is: is sales the only secret to making boatloads of money?
Absolutely not my friend.
Sales will certainly teach you a great deal of skills you can use in everyday activities and social gatherings, but it not the only want to reach that millionaire status you’re after, or billionaire if that’s what you much prefer.
The internet changes the ENTIRE playing field
Years ago there was no internet and these top billionaires had to work, work and work some more to become wealthy.
And of course that is still true in this day and age, however, there are some things you need to know about the internet and making boatloads of money.
Just look at Kylie Jenner…the youngest self-made billionaire all by the power of the internet and social media.
You heard that correctly.
If you haven’t heard the rage, she has millions of teenage girls followers who are all loyal and want to feel confident and pretty just like Kylie does.
Kylie started her own online business and started selling makeup.
Here are the stats, and believe me, they are jaw-dropping.
- Her social media posts are worth $1 million dollars each!
- She is the wealthiest out of the Kardashian-Jenner siblings (at only age 20)
- Her products always sell out within minutes of launching
- Kylie made a whopping $480 million dollars in her first 18 months of launching her makeup products
And guess who she surpasses?
Yep, Mark Zuckerberg, who was 23 when he became the youngest self-made billionaire.
And how did he get there? The internet, of course.
Without the internet it’ll be extremely hard and more time-consuming to become a billionaire, as we seen in the past that it could take well over 50 years!
The sales industry is very much alive and always will be.
Everyone always needs to buy something and that will never die down.
It’s not for everyone but in my opinion, anyone can learn sales and become an expert IF you’re willing to learn and grow your knowledge base.
If you’re like me, you probably don’t want to deal with people or work all day to meet your daily quota.
But I still wanted to make a lot of money, so I turned to the internet just like Mark Zuckerberg and Kylie Jenner.
Now look at the money they’ve made…
I’m not saying you will be the next billionaire but there is definitely enough room to make a million dollars annually.
Heck, monthly for that matter!
And that’s not even exaggerating.
When I turned to the internet I found affiliate marketing and decided to do more research.
I discovered Wealthy Affiliate and decided to go all in with the training and have I never looked back.
Now I’m doing online marketing full-time and I think it’s the best job in the world!
