When Should You Quit Your Job After Starting a Side Business?

If you’ve got a side hustle or some type of side business, how much should you earn before diving in full-time?

That’s the question I will answer for you today my friend.

Just like you and many others, I created a side hustle while I was working a normal job.

Of course it is not easy to work on something on the side while you already have a full-time job, but for those entrepreneurs out there (you know who you are), you know you want more out of life and I don’t blame you, so you will do whatever it takes to get there.

It is not a matter of creating a side business and banking overnight then leaving your job the next day!

It takes months and oftentimes years of dedication before you get your breakthrough.

The Struggle Most People Go Through

the-struggle

Most people would love to live life on their own terms, but unfortunately only a small percentage of the population can actually do that.

When you first start an online business it exciting with emotions running through your head wildly.

You want to work on your new business as much as you can because you picture how life would be if you were making lots of money on the internet, NOT having to answer to a boss everyday or be tied down to a set schedule.

This is all fine and dandy until reality kicks in.

You work your normal job but can’t seem to find time to actually work on your business, and your dream of working on your own terms comes to a complete stop.

However, if you can manage to push through these struggles and make it work, you can be making a hefty amount of money all from the internet.

But what should you be earning before you finally take the plunge and axe your day job?

Let me answer that for you.

It Depends On You…

Are you much happier working from home and making a little less than your normal job?

Maybe the less stress from working a normal job is much better despite of the pay cut until your online business kicks off.

Or maybe you absolutely love money and would rather wait until it is earning the same as your normal job before leaving.

In some instances people continue to work a normal job even when their online business is earning MORE.

At the end of the day it depends on the person and what they truly want in life.

If you simply cannot stand your normal job, then maybe leaving a little early before your business fully takes off is the better way to go.

I know over 70% of people hate their job so maybe this is what you’ll want to do if that sounds like you.

When Did I Take The Plunge & Quit My Job?

I was working a normal job when I first started my online business venture.

I was exactly like everyone else, pictured the fast cars, the vacations in the best spots in the world, the big flash houses, the yachts and spending all my time at the beach.

I think everyone that wants to make money online thinks about reaching this sort of status, because who doesn’t?

Well I tried for so many years trying to make money online. I first started with Google Sniper and failed miserably.

It ended up being a scam after many attempts trying to get it to work.

I was not going to give up the big dreams and aspirations I had.

In 2016 I discovered Wealthy Affiliate, and then I made my very first dollar after a couple of months.

Although it wasn’t instant money, it snowballed into hundreds and then eventually thousands of dollars per month.

I left my job as soon as I was making the same amount as my job.

Was there any specific reason?

I waited until I was earning the same as my normal job so I was financially secure and not left earning less and struggling, which would’ve caused me to go back to my job.

Sooooo, you could do either/or.

You could wait till you earn more or less, but at the end of the day it comes down to your personal needs.

Conclusion

Don’t quit your job as soon as you start your side business, because chances are it is too early and you don’t have a sustainable income yet.

You’ll be shooting yourself in the foot when you find out you’ve got little-to-no income coming in and whatever savings you do have isn’t going to last long.

So it is best to stay on the safe side, and that’s by waiting till you’re making the same as your jobs income or close to it at the very least.

Well that concludes this article and I hope you’ve gotten some insight into how long you should wait before leaving your normal job after you’ve started some a side business.
